Becoming a Member
Have you been thinking about becoming a member here at MCC? Now is your opportunity! Our next, two-week Membership Class will be held October 29 and November 5 in the Gallery from 11:15 AM – 1 PM. A brunch will be served each week and children's programming will be available through 6th grade. Junior and Senior High students are welcome to attend and become members, but will not be able to vote until they are 18. In order to attend membership classes, you must first attend Explore MCC.
Upon completion of the class, each participant will need to schedule a time to meet with an MCC Deacon to complete the membership process.
The church of Jesus Christ is an amazing thing. Formed of believers who join together to passionately celebrate, diligently demonstrate and consistently grow in the love of God, the church is a supremely powerful institution. The Bible tells us in Ephesians that,
“So now you...are no longer strangers and foreigners....You are members of God’s family.”
This passage shows us that the church is a family, a believer without a church family is an orphan, and if we are a follower of Christ, God expects us to be members of a church family.
Therefore, at Montgomery Community Church, we believe participation in membership is important. We ask you to commit to membership for four reasons:
BIBLICAL: JESUS CHRIST IS COMMITTED TO THE CHURCH
Because Christ is committed to the local church and uses it as a means to accomplish God’s plans, we must individually partner with the local church show our commitment to the Church.
CULTURAL: IT IS AN ANTIDOTE TO OUR SOCIETY
We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything . . . a job . . . a marriage . . . our country. This attitude has even produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers.” Membership swims against the current of America's “consumer religion.” It is an unselfish decision, where your commitment benefits the church by the addition of your unique talents, strengths and abilities and benefits you by the addition of committed and sacrificial relationships to your life.
PRACTICAL: IT DEFINES WHO CAN BE COUNTED ON
Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every army has an enlistment. Membership identifies our church family, putting us all on the battlefield for God's kingdom together.
PERSONAL: IT ENCOURAGES SPIRITUAL GROWTH
The New Testament knows nothing of a “lone ranger” Christian. Instead, it places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other and in relationships with others where spiritual growth can be fostered. You cannot be accountable when you're not committed to any specific church family.
