MCC is a church that firmly believes that our ministry extends to our neighbors, in our community, city, country, and world. We take seriously Jesus’ calling as we “center every aspect of our individual and corporate lives on the truth that we are specifically sent by Christ and empowered by His Holy Spirit to reach and save the lost in order to make disciples”.

Through local community outreach, we strive to share the message and love of Jesus Christ with people who are distant from God, are hurting, and are under-resourced.

We passionately partner with many worthy organizations who seek to serve Christ in our local area and who are aligned with our Mission, Vision, and Values.

If you are interested in learning more or if you have any questions, please contact Mary Deppert, Care and Missions Administrative Assistant, at mdeppert@mcc.church.

LOCAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS

CITY GOSPEL MISSION

Founded by James N. Gamble of Procter & Gamble in 1924, City Gospel Mission helps the homeless and hurting break the cycle of poverty and despair … one life at a time. They engage, equip and empower those in need with the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical skills and resources to achieve long-term life transformation and self-sufficiency. Their proven programs and services are centered on caring, personal relationships focused in four key service areas: food and shelter, recovery, at-risk youth and job readiness and placement. To learn more visit the City Gospel Mission website.

WHIZ KIDS

Give 1 hour a week and change lives!  Take action in your community.  Whiz Kids is a tutoring/mentoring ministry that will pair you with an at-risk child at a local elementary school. If you can read you can make a difference in their lives! If you are interested in joining this group on The City to receive updated information please click here

JOBSPLUS

People come to our employment network, JobsPlus, for many reasons. They come looking for a job, but they also come for hope, encouragement, and support. Many come due to the slow economy, layoffs, fear or other obstacles beyond their control. They want to work. They want to be self-sufficient. They want to be productive citizens. They just need a little direction and, most important, opportunity. For more information on a variety of serving opportunities through JobsPlus including resume writing, transportation, serving meals and more, please click here to join the group on The City.

MENTORING AT RIVER CITY CORRECTIONAL CENTER

Assist and encourage residents at River City Correctional Center in making a positive transition back into the community through affirming personal relationships. Residents are paired one-to-one with the same gender mentor who helps them in their transition several months prior to their release.  Training, support, and connection to JobsPlus is provided.  Could you be a positive role model and an encouraging friend to a non-violent offender as he or she re-enters the community? If so, please join our group on The City by clicking here.

OPERATION GIVE BACK

The goal of Operation Give Back is for every student to have the opportunity to mature into their best selves educationally, emotionally, spiritually, socially and professionally.  They strive to provide a positive environment and to create motivating programs that inspire children to reach their full potential and realize their dreams and aspirations.  OGB fosters one community where volunteers and participants can learn, grow and benefit from one another.

SAFE FAMILIES

Safe Families is a ministry movement of Biblical hospitality, giving hope to families in crisis. Our trained and vetted Host Families open their homes by hosting children overnight for short periods of time, while their parents work to overcome crises, like eviction or a medical emergency. Safe Families provides a means for the parents of hosted children to restore stability in their lives. Safe Families is a proactive, preventative ministry that preserves and strengthens families, helps keep children from falling into foster custody, and empowers Christ-centered families to relationally serve others in the local community. There are many ways to engage in Safe Families, in addition to hosting children. You can invest time (e.g. babysitting, transporting, meal preparation), invest your skills (e.g. carpentry, electrical, handyman), invest your professional resources (e.g. dentistry, pediatrics, counseling), and invest your material resources (e.g. car seats, diapers, formula).
